Behind the Bellani Women

Think yoga is just for the trendy. Not at Bellani. We started our yoga class this week just for moms. How was it you ask? It was wonderful. Our instructor is calming, comfortable and extremely helpful. As the sun set, Bethany helped us get into the proper pose, relax and connect as moms. How do I know this? Yes, Kelly and I are taking the class. We have to get exercise somehow, and what a better way then with other Bellani moms. Come join us on Wednesday’s at 6:00 pm.

While at the ABC Kids show in Las Vegas last September, we came across the Mommy Hook. We must have walked past it 5 times. We finally went over and said ok, tell us about this. Essentially it’s a large carabiner hook. You can use it on a stroller or shopping cart. Although, if you have a stroller with ergonomic handles like the Maclaren, this hook won’t work. But for the rest of us, it may. It’s made from durable, heavy-duty aluminum and supposedly won’t break like plastic ones. We didn’t order it while at the show, but requested a sample to try. I set out a few weeks ago armed with my stroller, the Mommy Hook, and my 2 year old son. As the bags started to accumulate, I placed them on my new favorite stroller accessory. The Mommy hook is what I believed to be quite large, but as I quickly found out, it really came in handy. The only negative I found was remembering to take it off the stroller before my son got out or it would tip over. I used to have the plastic hooks that were much smaller, and when I was ready to take the bags off, I took them off one by one (which really isn’t a big deal). However, it was quite nice to unhook just the one thing and put all the bags in the car. Then, to carry them inside, I just took the hook in with all the bags still attached. So are we going to carry the Mommy Hook? We’re not sure yet. But I do have to say, it’s really nice when products perform like they say they will. -Shannon

I remember so clearly four and a half years ago when my oldest son was born. I remember him at 11 months old, looking out our front window, watching the school bus that just picked up the children on our block. And I remember thinking; it seems like forever that you will be on that bus. So when I opened up the mailbox today to find the paperwork to register him for Kindergarten, I had to take a step back. It was a feeling I won’t forget anytime soon. What happened to this little guy? He’s now going to be on “the bus” with 5th graders. Fifth graders! I’m not sure how I feel about that. Our family is now controlled by a school district deeming when we can take vacation and when we need to stay in the state. The days are gone when I can say “why don’t we go to the children’s museum this morning, or take a trip to Nan and Pop-pop’s for a few days”. I’m seeing PTA meetings and bake sales in my future. Which I am exciting about believe it or not. I remember baking 24 cupcakes to take into my first grade class. We didn’t have the nice Tupperware cupcake holders they have now. I had to carry them to school in a shirt box hoping they wouldn’t fall over. I have some good ideas for cupcakes. I’ve had recipes ripped out of magazines for years waiting for the day Ethan would be ready to carry his own cupcakes to school. I have to admit though, I do have a cupcake holder. We’ve entered the next phase in our lives…the school age days.
