A toy store closes.

We just heard a landmark toy store is closing. Wayland Toys has closed it doors. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you that much about them, but from what people are telling me, it was a wonderful toy and bookstore. They had tons of wooden toys (which we of course love) and educational products for children. Providence folks will miss them. No need to worry though, a quick drive to Warwick and we have you covered.

Did Someone Say Maternity Clothes?

Sorry, this post is a few weeks back…not sure why it took me so long.

Kelly and I got out of the state for 24 hours, and out of Bellani if you can believe it. We took a trip to NY. We were on a search for Maternity clothes. Considering our name, Bellani MATERNITY, I’m sure you can guess how many times a week women fly into our store, look around very confused and say “oh, I thought you had clothes”. It was never our intention to have clothes. We were content with baby gear and prenatal classes that made up for the Maternity in our name. However, our customers saw it differently. So off to NY we went. And wait till you see what we found. The clothes are beautiful, comfortable, reasonable and just stylish. We can’t wait for them to arrive. One of the best thing about them, most of them are nursing tops also and you would never know. This is a picture of some of the Maternity and Nursing clothes to arrive. And yes, now we can say we are truly Maternity.

I want one…

As many of you know, my nearly six (I can’t believe it) year old has several allergies. Since he is starting Kindergarten in September I’ve really hit an all time nervousness about how to deal with his allergies in constantly changing environments.

We’ve worked diligently in teaching C all about his allergies, what he can and cannot eat, what is okay for him and so on. He has the vocabulary and the confidence to say no to things that he shouldn’t have. However, how do I let the teacher on a field-trip know that my son can’t get near dogs, or he may be having an asthma attack? I’m trying to relax and not make child completely neurotic. Of course I’ve already told everyone at the school about his allergies as well. I think I finally solidified my decision today to also purchase a medical ID tag for him. His pediatrician has been urging this for a long time, but I never saw the need as he was usually with me. At least he doesn’t have to feel different from everyone else. I found an attractive id bracelet, and ordered it. I guess that will be his “welcome to school” gift from mom.

Can you believe they are ONE!

Happy Birthday to our friends Luke and Nial. Luke turns one today and Nial, in just seven days. These Thursday morning playgroup friends are local favorites, and love to learn from one another. Their moms are pretty cool too!

How was your Mother’s Day

What a wonderful day…Mother’s Day. A time to reconnect with your children and cherish them for who they are. I love Mother’s Day. Every year I think how it’s going to be. My husband waking up with our two boys, breakfast made, dishes done and just myself sitting on our deck reading the newspaper. How it is really? Pretty much how I imagined it, except we don’t have the newspaper delivered anymore (who has time to read it). So instead I played a mean hand of Go Fish with my four year old and watched my two year old ride his tricycle in the driveway. How did I capture my 4th Mother’s Day? With a new camera from my dear Husband. We have an older digital camera that I love; except for the fact that you need a suitcase to carry it in it’s so big. He overheard me talking to my mom one day about how nice it would be to have one I can fit in my pocket. Wasn’t that sweet he remembered.

So I ask you…What was your favorite Mother’s Day gift? Or what would you like to receive one day for Mother’s Day?

Are you ergonomic

So it’s been a little while since I’ve written. Why? Not sure. I could say I’m busy, but aren’t we all. I don’t really have a great reason. I actually have so many things to write about. So here I go…

My most favorite thing right now- the Ergo Baby Carrier. Kelly and I were going back and forth about this carrier for a while. We’ve always liked it, but never actually used it. We’re lucky enough to have a wonderful customer who let us try out their Ergo. Kelly took it home to try it out on her 3 year old, then to my house to test my 2 year old. We both said the same thing, I wish we would have gotten this earlier. The Ergo is a carrier that you can wear on your front, hip, or back. You can use it from infancy to toddler-hood. Not surprising to us, we sold out of them in 5 days. Our next order is on the way!
