Daddy needs some new duds

I’m excited about a new diaper bag that’s coming out. It’s for Dad’s from Petunia Pickle Bottom. Petunia’s are well loved here at Bellani. From their Boxy Backpacks to their stylish Touring Tote (and we can’t forget the Society Satchel Cake diaper bag), their features are wonderful and they are just plain pretty. Petunia is now adding dad bags to their stylish line (don’t worry: they won’t be pretty, but very manly). Check back for updates I’ll be posting while we’re in Vegas for the ABC Kids show.

I actually laughed out loud

I wouldn’t normally do this, but this is so funny I had to share it with others. This was an actual item on ebay and a day in the life of one mom, I’ll let you read about the rest….happy reading!

Mattel recalls expanded…

I haven’t written about this because we don’t carry any of these toys, but it has gotten to the point of major concern. So even though we don’t carry these toys at Bellani, we have them in our homes from friends and family and a few my husband and I thought were good at the time. Mattel has just recalled another 9 million toys. From what I’ve heard, the owner of the factory responsible for the lead paint has just committed suicide. I urge all of you to look in your kids closets and playrooms (I know close friends of ours have tons of Polly Pockets) and check the lists below to see if you have any of the affected toys.
Press release from Mattel click here
For the complete listing of recalled toys click here
And for those of you who haven’t checked out the RC2 or Thomas the Tank recall yet click here
As parents, it’s frustrating to have to add our children’s toys to the list of things to worry about. I was content with worry about them playing in the street or not eating enough vegetables.

Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga - a haven for new moms

Imagine a place you can take your newborn until crawling baby and talk about how little sleep you got the night before or ask what everyone else does at 1:00 am when their child doesn’t want to go back to sleep. Now imagine bouncing softly on a birth ball while learning positions to help your child when they have gas, how to regulate their sleep patterns, and have everyone clap for you when you told them your little one finally slept for 6 hours at night. You’ve just stepped into a Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga class at Bellani.

Moms tell us these classes are like heaven to them. Where sleep deprivation, non-showered and make-up-less is the standard. But they’re all in the same boat, so everyone feels right at home. Most moms stay after class for hours to continue to chat and make plans for the upcoming week to get together, before their next Itsy Bitsy class.

We’re really excited here at Bellani to be able to offer moms this wonderful class and the chance for them to feel connected to others experiencing the same stages of parenthood. Fall registration is open. You can enjoy Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga on Thursdays at 11:00 am or 1:00 pm, Fridays at 11:00 am or Saturdays at 10:30 am starting September 6th. Call 401-234-1279 to register.

Hospital Grade Rental Pump vs. Buying a Double Electric Breast Pump

This is a question we hear a lot at Bellani. Should I rent a hospital grade breast pump, or buy a double electic breast pump. There’s always the first question: Why do you need a breast pump? This can answer a lot of questions for most people. Let’s start with why you would need a hospital-grade breast pump: If you have to solely pump because your baby isn’t able to breastfeed, you’ll need the most efficient pump, which is a hospital grade. These pumps use a rapid suck and release cycle which draws milk from your breast at about the same rate as your baby would if they were to breastfed. They are pricy; a new one can cost more than $1000. But not to worry, they can be rented by the week or month. And what’s better, we have them in stock here at Bellani. So if you need to rent one, you can swing by to pick it up, or we can deliver it to you. ameda-elite.jpg

On to double-electric pumps: If you will be returning to work full-time and your milk supply is well established, this is the pump for you. Because you are able to pump both breasts at once, you’ll save time pumping several times per day. These models come with backpacks which allow you to carry cool packs, car adaptors for pumping in the car and battery packs in case you have to pump where there isn’t any access to an electrical outlet. They’re light weight and extremely portable. purey-yours.jpg isis-duo.jpg
You know where to find us if you have any other questions on Breastpumps…
